Student Wellness Policy Schools receiving federal funding for school lunch programs are required by law to have a Wellness Policy and a School Health Advisory Council. This council provides advice on the various areas of Coordinated School Health and is made up of a representative group including community members, parents, and staff.
The council recognizes that good health is directly linked to academic achievement. Children who are healthy learn better. The School Health Advisory Council is currently using the School Health Index from the Centers for Disease Control to assess various components of Coordinated School Health. Below is an overview of the Student Wellness Policy and the Monthly Nutrition Newsletters.
